Adamawa State SABER Donates ICT Equipment to Adamawa Urban Planning Authority to Boost E-Governance and Digital Service Delivery

The Adamawa State Urban Planning and Development Authority (ASUPDA) has received a vital boost in its digital transformation journey following a donation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment from the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER).

The consignment, handed over on Saturday in Yola, includes desktop computers, office tables, and chairs. These are critical resources aimed at modernizing ASUPDA’s operations and accelerating the digitization of urban planning services across the state.

Presenting the items, Dr. Bello Abubakar Song, SABER Focal Person for Adamawa State, stated that the donation is part of a broader government-led initiative to improve public service delivery, reduce bureaucratic delays, and promote e-governance in key sectors.

“This intervention is designed to strengthen institutional capacity within ASUPDA, particularly in the processing of land rights, building permits, and development approvals,” Dr. Song said. “By equipping the Authority with modern tools, we are laying the foundation for transparent, efficient, and citizen-centered governance.”

He emphasized that streamlined digital processes will not only enhance accountability but also attract private investment by improving the ease of doing business in Adamawa State.

In his remarks, Dr. Hammajam Ahmed Adamu, Special Adviser to the Executive Governor on ICTs, E-Governance, and Policy, underscored the importance of integrating technology into urban management systems.

“Effective urban planning in the 21st century cannot rely on paper files and manual workflows,” Dr. Hammajam said. “Modern challenges demand modern solutions. With these computers and infrastructure, ASUPDA can now move toward online applications, digital record-keeping, and real-time monitoring of compliance hallmarks of smart governance.”

He commended the Executive State Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his continued support in strengthening public institutions through targeted capacity-building interventions, noting that such interventions are critical to achieving the state’s Digital Agenda.

Receiving the donation on behalf of ASUPDA, the General Manager of the Authority expressed profound gratitude the Executive State Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, stating that the equipment would significantly improve staff working conditions and operational efficiency.

“This support comes at a crucial time as we work to digitize our core services,” he said. “These computers will enable us to process documents faster, reduce backlog, and provide timely responses to residents and developers. It will also help safeguard records and minimize errors associated with manual handling.”

The donation aligns with ongoing efforts by the Adamawa State Government to harness technology for improved urban development, land administration, and regulatory compliance. It further reflects the state’s commitment to implementing the National Executive Order on Critical National Information Infrastructure, following its participation in the recent ATCON Strategic Stakeholders’ Meeting in Abuja.

With this latest development, Adamawa reaffirms its resolve to build a digitally empowered civil service that delivers faster, fairer, and more accessible services to all citizens.
